Brondby IF has been punished by the Danish Football Association's Disciplinary Committee after pyrotechnics and an assault during the match against FC Copenhagen on May 21. The club has been banned from having spectators on the Sydsiden Øvre stand for the first two home matches of the season in the Superliga. At the same time, the club has been fined 100,000 kroner. The reason is, among other things, the firing of pyrotechnics in connection with the match and the assault on a woman in a wheelchair. Brondby writes that the perpetrator has been reported to the police and subsequently charged. The club has also imposed a lifetime ban on the deeply shocking and brutal act. Brondby also views the use of pyrotechnics with great seriousness, which during the match in an unacceptable manner exposed fans on the Sydsiden Nedre stand to both danger and damage. The Danish Football Association's Disciplinary Committee has chosen to punish Brondby IF after a thorough investigation of the case. Brondby IF has already taken steps to prevent similar episodes in the future. The club has worked closely with the authorities to ensure that spectators and players can feel safe during matches. Brondby IF hopes that the punishment will have a deterrent effect on fans who consider using pyrotechnics or committing violent acts during matches.
